I remember when I was young, there were several places of this nature in downtown Manhattan back in the mid 60’s, but not at this level, quality or variety. It is a “must” destination for any foodie or non-foodie that visits London. The aromas, quality of foods, breads, cultures, charcuterie, cheese, tastes, etc., etc., have got to be tried! Heck, even if you think you’re not hungry, you will undoubtably become hungry whence you’ve started your tour of the area.
This is totally unlike anything you see here in the USA; not Seattle, not San Francisco, not New York City, not Philadelphia. Believe me you, you’ve got to go!! http://www.boroughmarket.org.uk/
PS: The only thing that was not better were the fresh oysters (nonetheless, still good). Our local oyster are in the Top 10 (if not Number 1) in the world. Pemaquid River Oysters: www.oysterguide.com/maps/maine/pemaquid/
